The Shire of Goomalling is looking for expressions of interest from entities to run, manage and promote historic Slater Homestead. The Slater Homestead has in the past been successfully utilized to hold extensive functions including weddings, birthday parties, corporate team building events, wake gatherings and school end of year parties. The asset provides and accommodates a bespoke experience that delivers a worthy memorable occasion for all.

The WA Centre for Road Safety Research is looking for volunteers across WA to take part in the FEEDBACK Trial, which aims to reduce road crashes among young drivers by trialling a new intervention that uses technology to monitor driving and provide feedback.

This fire season is shaping up to be a busy one, with several large incidents already affecting our Shire and neighbouring areas. Fires can be overwhelming and frightening, but following these steps ensures our bushfire volunteers can act quickly and effectively.

A Total Fire Ban (TFB) is declared on days when fires are most likely to threaten lives and property. This is because of predicted extreme fire weather or when there are already widespread fires and firefighting resources are stretched.

The Wheatbelt Business Network in collaboration with the Northam Chamber of Commerce has just been approved for funding through Tourism WA to roll out short course training programs for the HOSPITALITY & TOURISM sectors in early 2025 in Northam.

In February 2025, the Seniors Recreation Council of WA Inc – Avon Branch will be hosting the Avon LiveLighter Aged Care Games at the Northam Recreation Centre. The Aged Care Games provide an excellent opportunity for seniors in ‘care’ situations to experience team participation and light competition, as well as social interaction, through adapted games in a community recreation facility.
