This fire season is shaping up to be a busy one, with several large incidents already affecting our Shire and neighbouring areas. Fires can be overwhelming and frightening, but following these steps ensures our bushfire volunteers can act quickly and effectively.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐨 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞:
Call 000 – This must be your first action.
Notify the Shire – If you can, let
the Shire office know so we can prepare earth moving equipment if needed and deploy our water cart to assist the brigades.

Harvest Bans
When a fire occurs in Goomalling, a 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐧 will be enforced straight away.
- Machinery Safety - stop utilising machinery in paddocks immediately. Move to a cleared area away from crops and turn it off.
- Haulage roads are still usable, but paddock and access road movement must cease.
- Bans remain in place until the fire is fully extinguished and it’s safe. We know everyone’s eager to get back to harvesting, but we can’t lift bans until we’re sure there’s no risk of reignition.

Everyone attending fires must be in long pants, long-sleeved shirts and fully enclosed boots (Yes, that means no thongs or footy shorts, farmers!).
Please follow instructions from our Fire Control Officers to keep everyone safe.
