DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION - 78 BEECROFT ROAD, GOOMALLING

Council is seeking public comment on a proposal by Ben and Bernadette Clarke to change the designated use of a building on Lot 2 (#78) Beecroft Road, Goomalling to “Chalet” or “Holiday Accommodation”.

Mr & Mrs Clarke are in the process of sub-dividing the lot to facilitate the construction of a new home.   Planning regulations do no permit two residences on the one property and so, to facilitate the construction of the new residence, the purpose of the existing residence must be changed.  The subdivision will not be completed prior to the new house being completed.

In our Town Planning Scheme, Chalet is a use not listed for this property and therefore triggers an advertising period of 28 days and a letter to residents within a 200 metre radius of the proposal.   The Council must then consider any comment made by residents prior to making a decision on the matter.  At this stage the Council is generally supportive of the proposal.
